Organic practices eliminate or substantially reduce the use of chemically mass produced fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides. Production of clothes made of organic cotton is carbon intensive and can reduce your clothing related carbon footprint significantly.
• Conventional cotton production world-wide accounts for about 25% and 10% use of insecticides and pesticides respectively where as it cover just about 3% of the total land area.
• Using these harmful chemicals results in degradation of the quality of the soil and underground water and causes environmental pollution.
• These chemicals also have harmful effects on the health of the farmers. On the other side, organic cotton do not have these negative effects.
• The natural dye used in this product is derived from naturally available plants, spices, vegetable skins etc.
• Blue dye is derived from natural indigo which is dyed in traditional cold fermentation vats, yellow is pomegranate rind with hardship: a touch of kasimi turns it grey-green, catechu heartwood makes brown & red is derived from non-toxic, harmless alizarin.
• These natural, non-toxic and harmless dyes are safe and have no harmful effects on the producer or the wearer and are safe for the skin and the environment.
Opt for organic cotton products to have a pollution-free environment that conserves bio-diversity and are safe for the user and the cotton farmers. Description

Sustainable Way of Making the Dress - The Malkha Process
The dyeing and yarn-making is done by local weavers which keeps the cotton textle industriry local to the villages or regions where the cotton is farmed. This way, both farmers and weavers benefit from each other and it becomes an occupation of the rural population of the village allowing people to work from or near their home. This process is called the Malkha process and it empowers the socio-political situation of the rural society.
The outcome of this Malkha process is a fabric with a stubbed texture that holds its colour, retains its lustre, a garment that keeps its shape, all the while getting softer and more comfortable with each washing.
Handloom weaving is used and treatment of the yarn and fabric is done using natural, non-toxic, vegetable dyes.
