Why Eco friendly?

Organic practices eliminate or substantially reduce the use of chemically mass produced fertilisers, pesticides and insecticides. Production of these is carbon intensive and buying organic tea can reduce your food related carbon footprint by around 15%.

Organic tea production eliminates soil and water contamination. As synthetic chemicals are not used, it does not pose any risk of soil and underground water contamination. Improved soil biology also helps in increasing biodiversity.

This product uses ingredients which are farmed organically without the use of chemical fertilisers or pesticides and uses an environmentally and socially responsible approach. It ensures that contents of a package are 95% or more certified organic. It ensures that teas or other agricultural product has been produced through approved methods that promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity. As such the produce has a low carbon footprint and is health friendly.

Description

Deha's Organic Assam Black CTC Tea (250gms).

Grown and manufactured in the Brahmaputra Valley, this exquisite organic Assam CTC Black tea is produced from organically grown tea bushes. Made from two leaves and a bud, this tea produces top quality liquor with body and strength and is a favourite with tea drinkers whose preference lies in a good strong cup of tea.

Assam is the world’s single largest tea growing region and the tea there has been called a “cup of gold”. The tea gardens are situated on either side of the river Brahmaputra. The organic Assam black CTC tea has a strong brew and is generally preferred with milk. Assam manufactures orthodox leaf Black teas and CTC teas. The harvesting season is between the months of March and November.

The CTC process was invented by W. McKertcher in 1930, but it was not until the 1950s that it really took off. Today, most black teas produced in India use the CTC method. Crush, Tear, and Curl is a method of processing black tea. However instead of the leaves being rolled at a final stage (as a orthodox Assam is), they are passed through a series of cylindrical rollers with hundreds of small sharp "teeth" that crush, tear, and curl the tea. This process removes many of the more tannic parts of the plant, and therefore is great for boiling in water or milk for making chai.

Drinking preference: Generally preferred with milk. Sugar maybe added if desired.

Ecohoy is derived from two Eco and Hoy. Hoy in English is used to attract someone’s attention (Recall the pirate’s Ahoy!) and in Spanish it means “Today”. – We strive to divert people’s attention to the environment and aim to catalyze change, not tomorrow but today and beginning now.
