Why Eco friendly?
-
Toys are wonderful for encouraging development, creativity, and imagination. However, they can often contain potentially toxic materials like BPA, phthalates, lead, formaldehyde, flame retardant chemicals, and PVC.
From birth, babies and kids are given teethers and toys to help facilitate open-ended, imaginative, creative, active and role play. However, not every toy is created equal and it’s something parents need to be mindful of. It can be a surprising wake-up call for many parents to learn that some of their children’s favorite toys could be exposing them to harmful chemicals.
Generally speaking, wooden toys are environmentally more friendly than plastic due to its biodegradable nature and its ability to be recycled. Instead of filling the landfills with man-made products, you can buy toys for your child that will give back to the environment.
Ingredients to avoid in kids toys:
1) Lead
2) PVC and Phthalates
3) Bisphenols (BPA + BPS)
4) Flame Retardant Chemicals
5) Formaldehyde
Wooden toys offer further eco-credentials when any paint used on them is free of toxic chemicals – or if no paint is used at all. The production of wooden toys, particularly when hand-crafted and when all materials are sustainably sourced and certified, offers a stark comparison to the creation of many mass-produced plastic toys, which can contain dubious chemicals and often offer little prospect of renewability.

Palmer and Pincer Grasp Puzzle : Indian Montessori toy brand rooted in sustainability, providing unique, handcrafted and sustainable toys that are safe not only safe for your child but for the environment as well. These beautifully handcrafted set of blocks make a great first puzzle for your little one. The pincer and palmer grasps are important milestones in the development of fine motor skills. The puzzle, inspired by the Montessori knobbed and knobless cylinders, helps your baby develop the varying grasping patterns.
The Palmer Grasp Puzzle is introduced at around 8 months of age. The child learns to grasp the cylinder with his/her palm (radial palmer grasp) and pulls it out of the block and also, tries to place the cylinder back into the block. The child is working hard to grasp objects with the thumb and index finger (pincer grasp). This activity hones their concentration and fine motor skills.
Note: Although for safety reasons the knob is carved out of the wooden block itself, it is advised to supervise your little one at all times; as it is small enough to present itself as a choking hazard.
Note:
- During its lifetime, a tree is subjected to many natural forces that cause variations in wood grain, color, knots, splits, and stains. These variations are not defects. They enhance the beauty of the wood and add to the characteristic of the handcrafted toys making each toy unique.
- As with any baby toy or accessory, please use only under adult supervision.
- Always inspect for damage prior to use.
